Indoor Play Penn Valley Community Church

Penn Valley Community Church (PVCC), located at 14685 Pleasant Valley Rd, is allowing GVPC to use their gym for indoor pickleball. There are 3 courts on a multi-sport lined floor. The schedule for the PVCC courts will be posted on PTS (PlayTimeScheduler.com and the Playtimescheduler App) in purple bubbles.

This is a NEW PROGAM started in winter of 2024, so changes are probable.  We are building the calendar based on the popularity of sessions.  Keep your eye on Playtime Scheduler!  At this time, we are offering:

  1. “Cardio” sessions for varying skill levels.  For those not familiar, these are 10 minute timed games.  The purpose of the timer is that so everyone finishes at the same time so it’s much easier to mix up the players.
  2. Varying skill levels of open play or organized games.  The facilitator will decide how to mix up the players.  Be it timed games or another option.
  3. Private invite only sessions.  If you have a group of 8 or more players, you can reserve the gym for private play.  The same cost applies, $5/pp for 2 hour sessions. There must be a “facilitator” (see below) available to open/close the gym and collect fees.  It is your responsibility to procure a facilitator for your session.  They will most likely want to play with you, rather than sit for the session duration, so make sure they are at the appropriate level.  Once you have a facilitator, email gvpcindoor@gmail.com with a request including date, time, session length (2 or 3 hours), number of players, and who your facilitator is. Your request must be submitted at least 72 hours in advance of your requested session time.  You will be notified when your request has been accepted by gvpcindoor.  You must then post it on PTS as an “Invite only session”.  For insurance purposes add the player “Grass Valley Pickleball Club Indoors” to your invite list. DO NOT check the box that says “Hide session completely from uninvited”.  You will be allowed 48 hours from the time of posting to fill the session with the minimum of 8 players or it will need to be deleted.  Depending on the frequency of your private session requests, you may be required to become a facilitator, as our facilitators are busy hosting the club’s open sessions.

At this time, our group of facilitators are:

The following is the protocol for playing at PVCC, GVPC Members only:

  • Because of a limited waiting area, player count is limited to 14 per session.  The facilitator will decide how the players will mix up, based on attendance.
  • Please be thoughtful about signing up for back to back sessions when there is a waiting list for the 2nd session.  Be a good sport and give everyone a chance to play.
  • There are no walk-ins at the PVCC venue.  You must be signed up on PTS or you will be turned away at the door.
  • Please vacate the gym after your session is finished to allow room for the next session players.
  • Due to the limited number of players at PVCC, you MUST be ready to play at start time, and stay for the duration. If you are late or leave early, you can ruin the session for everyone. If you signed up and can’t make it you MUST take your name off of PTS by 9pm the night before the session. If you remove your name after 9pm the night before, and do not notify the facilitator then you will be considered a no show. The facilitator’s name is listed in the session description and they will also be on the player list.  You can message them on PTS (using the bubble next to their name), or post a note on the session (using the box at the bottom labeled “add note”). No shows will be given 1 warning, and on the next no show will be excluded from playing indoors at both PVCC and Veteran’s Hall for 15 days
  • All players must abide by the instructions of the court facilitators and follow the GVPC Code of Conduct. Failure to follow the facilitators instructions is a code of conduct violation.
  • Players must enter and exit via the back door only.
  • The cost is $5 for 2 hour sessions. Pay at the door, cash only, no IOU’s. You must have a wristband on before going on to a court. You may purchase wristbands in advance.  If you are going to use a pre-purchased wristband, do not put it on before entering the gym.  Show it to the facilitator, then put it on.
  • No food is allowed in the gym.
  • Wear shoes that have “non marking soles”, clean soles from gravel and dirt before entering the courts.
  • Please help with set up or tear down of the nets if needed. The Club will provide indoor balls.
