Information for the 2026 Season (deadlines may have passed)
We are pleased to announce the new Grass Valley pickleball club ladder competitions will commence the week of April 27, 2026. There will be changes for this, our 7th year. We hope you will enjoy them. We explain how to register below. The deadline to register is Sunday, April 19, 2026.
For this ladder season, we can accommodate up to 64 players- 32 per ladder. If more than 64 desire to enroll, it will be first come, first served. We will compile a list of members willing to play as substitutes. We hope to have another ladder season later in the year and to accommodate more players if possible.
Based on our coin flip, one group, the Black Division for more "advanced" players will play Monday evenings at either 6pm or 7:30pm. The White Division will play Wednesdays at either Noon or 1:30pm, moving to 6 or 7:30pm in June. We explain how the seedings and division assignments work below.
You will play one ladder match per week, players will play 3 games to 15, win by 2, with each of 3 different partners in a group. Both ladder competitions will be for 10 weeks. All matches will be played at Memorial Park.
The system for moving up and down the ladder will be more simple and transparent. The top scoring two players in each group will move up a rung, and the two lower scoring players will move down a rung. Groupings for each week will be in the order of the standings. We are expecting the system to help create many competitive weekly games.
The ladder committee will do an initial seeding of the players, and assignment of divisions, based generally on skill level. It will be very "approximate," with more advanced players in the Black Division, all others in White. Ideally, your competition will be close to equal skill levels and challenging.
We will establish 4 groups among those who enroll to play. There will be up to 16 players in each group. Within each group we will do a random draw to choose a place to start on the ladder. Your seeding and division assignment will not be appealable. After that, play your hearts out and try to climb the ladder!
A couple things- we are using new software for ladder design, setting schedules, entering results and publishing standings. Unlike past years, there is a cost for the software platform called "Swish." We will require each ladder participant to pay $20 to cover the first 10 week ladder season. $15 will go to GVPC and $5 will be a Swish "tech fee.”
Unlike past years, we are asking for your 10 week commitment to use best efforts to attend all matches. We will try to have substitutes to step in when there are truly dire circumstances preventing your play. For final standings, you will be required to have posted at least 8 weeks of scores.
For the past three years, as a service to our participants, the ladder has reported match scores to DUPR - the "Dynamic Universal Pickleball Ratings" system. We want to ensure that the majority of ladder players do not object to our continuing to do that. Click HERE for a detailed explanation of DUPR and our rationale for using it for ladder.
As a mandatory first part of your ladder registration, please click HERE to vote on reporting ladder scores to DUPR. The majority vote will determine whether or not we continue to report to DUPR, with "Indifferent" votes counting as a "Yes". Only members who are actively signing up to play in the ladder will have their vote counted.
Steps to enroll for ladder season to commence April 27, 2026:
1. You must be a member of GVPC to register and remain a member through the entire ladder season.

3. When you get to registration page, under "Division", choose "GVPC Ladder." Then "Add to Cart." You will be asked to pay $20 through Stripe and be able to use any card, Paypal, etc. Then, you are in.
4. If you have not done so, please sign up for DUPR. Download the DUPR app on your mobile phone or www.mydupr.com. Link to the Grass Valley Pickleball Club, club number: 6990648524. Make sure you are using the same email address as you use for Swish.
5. If you wish to be on the Substitute list, email us at gvpcladder@gmail.com and let us know day(s) you can play.
We will confirm your registration. You may already have an inkling whether you will be in the more advanced Black Division playing Monday nights or the White Division playing on Wednesdays Noon to 3. For those in "the middle," we will let you know and confirm you can play on your session days. For next season starting in the summer, we expect to switch days - White Ladder on Mondays, Black on Wednesdays.
